September 2024
Here are some updates from Myke and Melody

We have had a strong start to our ministry at ASU-Poly this Fall. We had 150+ at our kick off volleyball tournament and made several new contacts there. At our meeting last night almost half of the 30+ folks were new to us this Fall!

We have 3 weekly small group Bible studies in addition to our weekly large group meeting.
These Study Groups are all led/co-led by students.

We have our Fall Retreat this weekend. Going to Pinetop to stay in the home of our directors’ wifes family.

Our annual mission trip to Mexico over Veterans Day had to be cancelled as one of our staff there is marrying that weekend and the wedding is being officiated by another of our staff! We do hope to do some kind of service projects that weekend or some sort of local mission trip.

We are planning a trip to Honduras over Spring Break to encourage and help some Missions Door folks as they begin campus ministries there.

Two big prayer requests
1. My desire is to make a concerted effort, along with any interested students, to really seek out lost students this Fall. Pray that God will lead us to students open to hearing the Gospel. Our two small group Bible studies meet in the dorm and we hope will be a base for reaching out to those dorms.

2. My mother turns 98 in a few weeks. She is losing her long term health care insurance next month. This will mean I may need to spend additional time in NC helping with her care. Plus the expenses of her care without insurance is a daunting situation my brother and niece (in NC) will need to navigate.

In His Service…

Ministry Focus
After graduating from college in electrical engineering, Myke served a two-year missionary term in Kenya. It was there that Myke first considered career ministry. He says, “We serve an awesome God! My passion is to see students’ lives changed by the power of Jesus, and to plant and strengthen college ministries that help facilitate that change. “I want to see students encounter Jesus, be empowered by the Holy Spirit, and become equipped to minister while at college, in the local church, and after graduation.” Myke directs the ministry at Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus and serves as an Area Coach for Arizona and Mexico.

Faith Story
Myke, raised in a Christian family, made a conscious commitment to Christ while in high school. Melody came to know the Lord in Junior high. After graduation she served with Campus Ambassadors in Ashland, Oregon until their marriage in 1985. In 1991 they moved to Minneapolis to begin a new ministry at the University of Minnesota. The winter of 1999 found Myke, Melody and son Matthew relocating to Tempe, Arizona. They now work on the campus of Arizona State University-Polytechnic.
